Green & Chic | Rooftop living, transformed

Architects who live by the mantra of bringing better, more sustainable and responsible creations to the forefront, continue to push the green architecture envelope. This cool rooftop apartment in London is one such example. Straddling the roof of a Victorian-era warehouse structure in Shoreditch district of London, this rooftop apartment is a testament to architecture’s new school of thought. Going green is not only possible and cost-effective, it is cool as hell!

Designed by London-based Tonkin Liu, in collaboration with Richard Rogers, the Roof Garden Apartment is an exploration in rooftop architecture and the greening of an urban landscape. The two-story apartment… is slowly growing greener every year, as its trailing ivy and other plants take root on the mesh exterior. The energy-efficient design of the structure sits well with the lush living exterior, green roof, rainwater collection system and solar collectors.
