Destination Branding | Do you know why you travel?

If you’re like me, the consummate observer, I always soak in my immediate surrounding. Especially when I travel, the stubborn thought that always lingers is the fundamental question: “Why do people travel?” What makes us travel great distances? What do we get from it? “Why do we bother doing it?”

I certainly know why I travel. And it may sound as cheesy as it gets, but my reason for traveling is to discover myself. This journey of discovery for me is ever encompassing, and includes being uprooted from my comfort zone and placed in strange surroundings, encountering people with whom you can’t communicate but are still able to connect with. And the overall experience opens your eyes, mind, and soul to new experiences, and in the end it helps deepen the understanding of your own place. Your own origins, and your personal life story. It puts it into perspective.

So it’s understandable how happy I was to find these TVCs from Expedia that perfectly captures all the different reasons why people travel. This TVC is actually a series of Expedia campaigns that promotes travel with a purpose.
