Lighter side of branding | Tapping into the reptilian brain…

“Some people collect shells, at Pulau Joyo we collect moments.”

I stumbled upon this phrase on a private island just off of Singapore, Pulau Joyo (Joyo Island), a private island resort in Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago Province just 2 (two) hours southeast of Singapore. It perfectly embodies what I always talk about – that brands that connect with customers are those that connect on an emotional level, and it’s driven by the meaning that customers attach to the product or service. A compelling brand is one that can go beyond providing the functional value, and rather delivers the emotional and symbolic values.
